I was totally thinking Oprah was all crazy and stuff until she brought up the question of the natives in the jungle who have never heard the name of Jesus.
If this point is the reason people are going with the whole new-agey, Move Toward The Light stuff, we as Christians are doing something wrong.
Instead of getting all Christiany on hot-button-often-politicized topics, maybe we should be getting back to the basics of grace and salvation.
Because I really don't think Jesus would point those people in Bula-Bula Land toward Hell if they never even had a chance to worship Him.
there are definitely lots of paths but only one leads to Christ. and as for the people who have never heard? romans 1 takes care of that. creations screams there is a God! the heavens show his handy work.
Romans chapter one deals specifically on the subject of "those who have never heard the gospel." We don't have to hear--God is all around in our creation. He reveals himself in that way to EVERY one. "The heavens declare the glory of God."
There is something in us that screams that we are ENTITLED to hear out the plan of salvation in numbered points--but those that don't hear it in that manner are still responsible for their actions. They are still going to have to stand and account for their choices.
And, those of us that have heard all the points of the gospel need to be on our knees constantly thanking and praising Jesus for His grace in revealing this to us in this way.
It was interesting how this lady in the audience really stood up to Oprah--and how, when the conversation didn't go the way Oprah wanted, she immediately went to the "I can't get into a religious argument with you" and gave her that "you're an idiot" look.
Proverbs says "The cross is foolishness to them that are perishing."
I think it's so sad that someone as smart as Oprah has been fooled by these New Age people. The worst thing about that is that there are MILLIONS of people out there that believe every word that comes out of Oprah's mouth MUST be true, therefore they don't believe there IS only one way.
I, too, thought it funny how as soon as Oprah started losing the argument with the woman talking about Jesus, she IMMEDIATELY backed out of the conversation. WHY? Because she knew she wouldn't win - Oprah KNOWS the truth, she just doesn't want to LIVE the truth. If she lived the truth, there would be a whole lot of things in her life that she would have to face that she just wants to ignore.
