This reminds me of a trick that our landlord tried my senior year of college. We had a hole in our hardwood floor from the day we moved in. It was kind of large, but not quite big enough to put a foot through or anything. We finally told him that we weren't going to pay rent until he fixed it. We came back from Christmas break to find he had nailed an old (1954!) license plate over the hole! Supposedly, that was only his temporary solution as the wood was hard to find (he said).

I'm sorry you're dealing with such a mess. I really don't understand why he put the outlet covers up there, though...

Um, so the outlet covers were put up there because?!?!?!?!? Maybe to help stabilize the crack? Wow. That does NOT look good.

Praying you get a better fix very soon!
